Club Campestre San José- hole 11Club Campestre San José- hole 11

Club Campestre San Jose was designed by Jack Nicklaus Design and opened for play in 2007.

The undulating site has wonderful sea views on a number of holes, albeit at a distance.

Arroyos natural to the site have been nicely used in lieu of or as well as fairway bunkers and challenge golfers to take them on..

Travelling Golfers who have the ability to carry the ball will cope much better than those that tend to run the ball.

Nicklaus courses are always strategically strong and Club Campestre is no different.

Place the ball in the correct position off the tee and you will be rewarded.

The long downhill par 5 seventh hole is the stand out, requiring a water carry for the approach to the near island green.

Campestre is a lovely strategic course in a compelling setting- sea views, undulating terrain and good design

 Notable Holes include:

- hole 1, a long opening par 4 with an arroyo providing a challenging carry on the second shot

- hole 2, a most attractive par 3, with ocean backdrop. It suits a gentle draw as the green angles away to the left

- hole 6, a mid length par 3 with a sea backdrop and a green tucked into the vegetation

Jack Nicklaus was one of the greatest golfers the world has seen- perhaps the greatest? (sorry Tiger)

Mr Nicklaus and his design team have also designed 425 courses world wide in 45 countries (at last count)

In my opinion the Nicklaus courses are always excellent, strategically strong, and playable for golfers of different abilities.

Club Campestre is no different.

Club Campestre should be included in all golf itineraries heading to Mexico's Baja Peninsula
