Norsjo Golfpark is a beautiful parkland and forest course right on Norsjo Lake, about 2 hours south of Oslo.

A number of holes play along the beautiful shore of Norsjo Lake and others have fabulous lake/mountain views.

Open for only 6 months of the year, the course was in very good condition, especially the greens.

The opening hole plays over a ridge with a cross-slope and you need to hit the fairway.

If you don’t, you will be caught up in the lush first cut making it a very long par 5.

The second hole really grabs your attention.

It’s about 125 metres off the “57” tees but it’s almost straight downhill.

Your tee shot needs to be accurate or you’ll be in the thick rough or the small drain very close to the green.

The rest of the front nine plays through the rolling parkland terrain and thick forest areas.

It’s hard to get into trouble, except for the index one hole, the 7th.

Playing over a rocky ridge, you need a very good drive to be in the best position to reach the green in regulation.

The green is a long way over a water course valley with a large bunker in front of the green.

It’s a serious golf hole!

The back nine is where there’s even more action!

The par 5 10th plays through some serious moguls in the middle of the fairway.

Hit one of those and your ball pulls up very quickly.

The par three 11th is the spectacular signature hole (see pic top of page)

With gorgeous views of Norsjo Lake, the back tee plays 190 metres across an inlet down to a small target green.

It’s an unforgettable golf hole.

After walking back up the hill, the 12th is a short par 4 with a blind tee shot.

Just don’t left hit into the thick forest!

The par 5 14th plays down to a headland with pretty views of the lake and inlets.

The par 3 15th is another jaw-dropping experience.

It plays over a ravine to a small target in the distance.

Hit it well or say goodbye to your ball!

The par 4 16th is another beautiful hole leading down to the edge of the lake.

The final two holes lead you back up the hill to the clubhouse.

The course is a solid undulating walk

If you have walked the course, you will feel like you’ve run a marathon!

Norsjo Golf Club is reasonably priced and welcoming to visitors.

It has good practice facilities for warmup after your drive there.

The back tees play about 6200 metres, called the “62” tees.

The regular men’s tees are “57” and regular ladies tees “52” or “48”.

There’s also “32” tees for beginners and children.

Combine your round with a couple of nights at the delightful Norsjo Hotel.

The hospitality is outstanding and they have a great chef with delicious meals.

The hotel has comfortable rooms and wonderful views over the lake.

Also not to be missed is a cruise from near Norsjo Hotel on the lake and up Telemark Canal.

The boat travels through a number of interesting locks seemingly from another era.
